And they lived happily every after.

There just wasn't anything exciting enough to prompt me to remove the YES WE DID post of election night. And there still really isn't. I've been here basking in hope and happiness that we, as a country, will join together and work towards bringing us out of this time we are in now. And, based on McCain's gracious concession speech, I hope we may.

But! Onward to other boring items in my life. I embarked on my second business trip this year (I usually take two) to the lovely Wenatchee, WA. I would have really been lovely if it hadn't of rained for 3 days straight, but I digress. Bubba (somehow) has learned to read. Now, he's not paging through War and Peace or anything, but he's got mad skills when it comes to Dr. Seuss. It's pretty cute and I could have him read to me all day. Sis continues to be her funny and inquisitive self. And, yes, she's still EXHAUSTING.

Hmmmm..what else have we been up to?

We've played "pet store'.

And had a crazy hair day at school.

We enjoyed Halloween.

 

And loved on Daddy.

 

In classic Seattle style, I bought rain boots. But, alas, I have yet to use them.

I stumbled upon the New Yorker's revealing of letters written by Norman Mailer.

This one fits perfectly within the context of my last post (via kottke.org):

On politics.

I am not a joiner. Other than sports teams, I never really joined anything. It should come as no surprise that I don't like being told what to do. I specifically choose the college that I did because it DID NOT have a greek system. I'll join professional organizations (I feel the need to support them with my membership fees), but I rarely attend the meetings. And, when I first registered to vote in the great state of Oregon, I registered as an independent.

I think the issue I have with labels in general (feminist, Democrat, Republican, Delta Delta Delta, etc.) is that (to loosely quote The Sister) "the labels mean different things to different people". For example, you might say, "I am a feminist!", and the person who hears that might assume a bunch of things that may or may not be true about your take on feminism.

I admit I am a one issue voter. I have very sincere feelings about a particular issue (which, no worries, I don't feel the need to share here), and, for the most part, my feelings on that issue puts me clearly in the Democratic Party realm. And I'm okay with that. I am no swing voter, so there was really nothing the Senator McCain could do that would sway me to switch my allegiance. 

And if he was trying, he sure didn't earn any points with his choice of Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Palin. Frankly, if he was specifically looking to choose a women to complete his ticket (which, if true, I don't have much respect for either), there are about 1,000 other Republican women more qualified to be the Vice President. Christine Todd Whitman? SURE! Kay Bailey Hutchinson? ABSOLUTELY! Elizabeth Dole? SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN MY CHOICE (classy and respected women). In my opinion, his choice was an insult to women (and men, for that matter).

That all said, no matter your party affiliation (or not?) and whether not you agree with me or not (honestly, not here to change anyone's mind), please be sure to vote on November 4. Because my rule is, if you don't vote, you don't have the right to bitch about politics after the fact.

Enough already; I'm in: Obama '08.

It's time to join together to bring change to Washington DC.  The turnout for the Washington State caucuses is inspirational; I hope we can build on this and elect  Democrat for President this fall.  I was holding out hope for Hillary Clinton, but now I am convinced that Barack Obama should be the Democratic nominee for President.
